I did not know this before I read your question. I selected true, just because it’s the kind of outlandish thing that the French would do!
It is probably the least painful way to execute a person. OD ing on Seconal and Johnny Walker Black would possibly be the second way, but I have seen a few people OD, and be saved, on Seconal and they had convulsions. They did not remember that aspect though.
It is probably the quickest and least painful, if you exclude all the terror that comes before the knife comes down, but I read it may not be instantaneous. During the Terror, one of the condemned decided to use his execution as an experiment. He told a friend to be looking for him at the scene of execution to see if he was blinking his eyes after his head was cut off. When the execution held the head aloft, his friend could see the eyelids fluttering. I suppose it must take a couple seconds before the brain shuts down.
Cool, I like the flashbacks. Have learned a few things
Sadly France abolished the death penalty for capital offices such as murder, but established the death penalty for the pre-born when it legalized abortion.
Judgemental much?
